Title IX

On January 9, 2025, a federal court vacated the new 2024 Title IX Regulations, which were adopted and implemented by The Claremont Colleges on August 1, 2024 through the consortium-wide policy, The Claremont Colleges Sexual Misconduct and Sex-Based Harassment Interim Policy. As a result, The TCC SMSBH Interim Policy initially implemented on August 1, 2024 is being revised.

In the interim, the definitions of Prohibited Conduct in The TCC SMSBH Interim Policy remain in effect. Sex-based harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and retaliation and all other forms of Prohibited Conduct will continue to be prohibited as defined.  Students and employees should continue to report any incidents of Prohibited Conduct to their Title IX Coordinator.

The revisions will primarily affect the procedures to be used to resolve complaints of Prohibited Conduct. If you have any questions about the procedures to be used in your case or any questions or concerns you have regarding this revised policy and process please contact your Title IX Coordinator, Shino Simons, at titleIX@kgi.edu.

Reporting Options and Online Reporting Form

Reports of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, gender-based harassment, sexual assault, stalking, dating/domestic violence, and sexual exploitation can be made to KGI’s Dean of Students/Title IX Coordinator, Dr. Shino Simons.

Anonymous reports are allowed, but may limit the Institute’s ability to respond effectively.

You can also contact the Dean of Students for questions about reporting options, the availability of support measures, or to discuss any of your rights and options. You do not have to make a decision about whether to report to meet with the Dean of Students, and whether to disclose any specific information is always up to you.

Alternatively, reports can also be made to any of KGI’s complaint officers listed below, regardless of whether you are a student, faculty member, staff member, or third party. They will notify the Dean of Students of all disclosures or reports, but they can assist you with the first steps in the process.
