Kenneth Mashinchi

 

Kenneth Mashinchi is the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Keck Graduate Institute. He brings deep experience working across California in multiple marketing, communications, and journalism capacities. He has been with KGI since September 2024.

Mashinchi is committed to elevating KGI's brand across marketing and communications platforms to highlight the outstanding faculty, staff, students, and alumni of KGI and articulate the value of the Institute's programs and partnerships.

Prior to KGI, Mashinchi served in multiple roles at San José State University (SJSU), including Interim Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications. At SJSU, he led the university's communication efforts through a Department of Justice investigation and the COVID-19 pandemic. He also spearheaded the redesign and served as managing co-editor of the award-winning Washington Square: The Magazine.

Mashinchi's experience in marketing and communications for higher education first began at University of California, Merced, where he served as Senior Public Information Officer for the university.

Before moving to higher education, Mashinchi was a two-time Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist, with stops at television stations in Sacramento and Bakersfield. During that time, Mashinchi also served as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, California State University (CSU) Stanislaus, teaching mass media, small group discussion, and public speaking.

He holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from CSU Stanislaus.
