Erin Gysbers, DMSc, MPAS, PA-C, received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Penn State University in 2004 and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from St. Francis University in 2007. Upon graduation, she moved to Southern California and completed a postgraduate PA fellowship in Women’s Health at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. In 2022, Gysbers earned her Doctor of Medical Science degree with an emphasis in PA education from the University of Lynchburg. Her doctoral research focused on the risk of developing preeclampsia following successful in vitro fertilization and other assisted reproductive technologies.

Gysbers’ clinical experience has been primarily in women’s health, encompassing both inpatient and outpatient care. She also practiced in orthopedic surgery for four years. Her career in PA education began as a volunteer clinical preceptor in women’s health before she transitioned to PA education full-time. At her previous institution, she served in leadership roles including Didactic Coordinator and Director of Didactic Education. She joined Keck Graduate Institute in May 2023 as an Assistant Professor and assumed the role of Interim Program Director of the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program in July 2026. She continues to practice in women’s health and remains actively involved in the clinical education of PA students.

As an educator and leader, Gysbers is committed to fostering a collaborative, supportive, and accountable learning environment in which students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to contribute their perspectives, pursue growth, and work collectively toward shared goals. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes open communication, teamwork, mentorship, and creating opportunities for others to develop as educators and leaders. She believes strong PA programs are built through a culture of mutual respect, shared responsibility, continuous improvement, and a commitment to the communities they serve.

As Interim Program Director, Gysbers is particularly interested in expanding opportunities for KGI PA students to engage with the surrounding community through meaningful service and community partnerships. She also seeks to strengthen interprofessional education and collaborative projects across KGI’s health professions programs, preparing students to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams and to understand the unique contributions of their professional colleagues.

Gysbers is most passionate about mentoring future PAs and watching them realize their full potential as clinicians, patient advocates, community partners, and leaders. She views PA education as an opportunity not only to develop clinically competent practitioners, but also to cultivate compassionate professionals who are prepared to serve their patients, their communities, and the profession.
