Kenneth Mashinchi has joined Keck Graduate Institute as its new Vice President of Marketing and Communications, effective September 23, 2024. Mashinchi brings deep experience working across California in multiple marketing, communications, and journalism capacities. He was most recently Interim Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications at San José State University.
“I am delighted to join Keck Graduate Institute and support its mission of creating the next generation of leaders in healthcare, biotech, and life sciences,” said Mashinchi.
“Sharing the successes of KGI’s excellent faculty, groundbreaking research, industry-focused programs, and exceptional students will help expand the Institute’s boundaries and connection to the local and global communities we serve.”
Mashinchi will report directly to KGI’s President, Dr. Mohamed Abousalem, and will lead the expansion and implementation of marketing and communication strategies to support growth in admissions, philanthropy, and corporate engagement, and the elevation of the overall KGI brand.
“As KGI enters a new era of growth, it is essential we continue the efforts to elevate our brand and advance our academic and institutional excellence to meet the needs of our students, researchers, and industry partners,” said President Abousalem. “Ken’s experience in communications and marketing, and his deep understanding of the higher education and research ecosystem, will be instrumental in highlighting our faculty, students, and alumni and articulating the value of our programs and partnerships.”
Prior to San José State University, Mashinchi was a Senior Public Information Officer for UC Merced and a broadcast reporter for FOX40 News and 23ABC. He holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Southern California.
