Through the Fall 2017 semester, Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) student leaders have capitalized on a new platform called KGI Engage.
The Student Affairs staff implemented the platform to provide an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to participate in on-campus events, activities, and programs. Organizations and clubs are able to create their own pages and connect with the KGI community.
For students that are new to KGI, they can use the platform to see the types of organizations that are available and it has helped to increase overall student participation.
Pranav Bhakta, PharmD ’19, has already experienced the wide-ranging benefits of the platform while rallying support for the American Pharmacist Association – Associated Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) chapter at KGI.
“KGI Engage gives us the ability to show our entire board with a profile picture for each officer,” Bhakta said. “Being one of the larger organizations on campus, KGI APhA-ASP has 16 officers, making it challenging for members to know the entire board. With each officer’s position and role listed, this feature gives each member a chance to connect with the officers if they have an interest or desire in a certain topic.”
Atin Patel, MBS ’18, a leader in KGI’s Consulting Club and Vice President of Student Government, has found KGI Engage’s event creation tool to be particularly useful.
“It is very easy for clubs and organizations to post an event they are hosting,” Patel said. “All of the essential information is clearly listed and there is an RSVP box that assists in determining the event turnout.”
Overall, the KGI Engage platform has enhanced the student experience and brought the community closer together with an emphasis on event attendance and networking across clubs and organizations. KGI students can login to KGI Engage at kgi.edu/engage. If you have any questions regarding KGI Engage, please connect with Student Affairs at student_affairs@kgi.edu.
