He is Chairman, Board of Directors, Receptos, Inc.; Chairman, Board of Directors, Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc.; and Chairman, Board of Directors, Fate Therapeutics, Inc. He serves on the Board of Directors of Regulus, Inc. He is Lead Outside Director for Cerulean Pharma, Inc. and a member of the Advisory Council of Leerink Partners.
Formerly, he was Executive Chairman of Biogen Idec and former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, IDEC Pharmaceuticals Corporation. He received a S.B. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MA and PhD from Harvard University.
