Alice S. Huang
Senior Faculty Associate in Biology and Biological Engineering, California Institute of Technology
Dr. Alice Huang is an international consultant on science policy, higher education, and career development. Her past board appointments include UMass, Johns Hopkins, and the Rockefeller Foundation. She has worked with science institutions in Singapore, China, Japan, and Portugal, among others. She was elected president of the American Society for Microbiology and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Her training in molecular virology was at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with postdoctoral work at the Salk Institute and M.I.T. She was Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Laboratories of Infectious Diseases at Boston’s Children’s Hospital. Afterwards, Huang served as Dean for Science at New York University, and then Senior Councilor for External Relations at the California Institute of Technology.
She has been recognized for her scientific and personal achievements by several organizations including her alma maters and by membership in the Academia Sinica, Taiwan. Currently, Huang remains affiliated with the California Institute of Technology and serves as president of the Baltimore Family Fund.
