Sean R. Gallagher, PhD

Dr. Sean R. Gallagher has 26 years of experience in biotechnology, with an emphasis on instrumentation and applications development. After completing his PhD in plant biology in 1985 from the University of California at Riverside, he held a post-doctoral scholar position at Stanford University before moving into industry. Prior to UVP, Gallagher has held executive management positions at Hoefer Scientific Instruments, Pharmacia Biotech, Motorola, and Ionian Technologies. At Motorola, he was a founding member of Motorola Life Sciences, focusing on microfluidics and microarray platform development. Gallagher left Motorola to become President and CEO of Ionian Technologies, the first company spun out of Keck Graduate Institute before moving to his current position as VP and CTO at UVP LLC. A critical component of his commercial activity is the support of Keck Graduate Institute students through internships and joint commercial – academic partnerships focusing on technology and marketing areas of interest.
